REUBEN COMBAAS MASO

In memory to REUBEN COMBAAS MASO, who was born sometime in the year 1836, basing upon his memory during the Spanish Insurrections between the year 1896 to 1899, and during the Spanish-Filipino-American war in 1899 when the United States Government took over the Spanish-Philippine Government.
The late Reuben Combaas Maso is one of the children of MASO GALAWA and SAPED of Cadtay, Paykek, Kapangan. He is one of the grandsons of the most memorable great grandparents GALAWA and TACBIB of Taba-ao, Kapangan, whose children, grandchildren and great grandchildren (Galawa I, II, III and IV) that cover in population the sitios or barangays of Cadtay, Paykek and other places where their children got married.
Reuben was married to Miss Opey Polig, daughter of Polig and Tamiyek of Taba-ao, Kapangan and Bubon, Kibungan. They are blessed with seven (7) children and one adpted son. All are married except one, they are:

2. Mr. Alfonso C married to Bainan and Banay with 2 ladies,

The late Reuben Combaas died January 14, 1978 at 3:30 pm at Pinsao, Guisad, Baguio City at the house of Mrs. Ida C. Tabafunda family and was buried January 16, 1978 at the Baguio cemetery leaving 7 children and 7 great grandchildren or more.
The brothers and cousins of the late Reuben Combaas as well as the first and second cousins of his seven children are:
Sister Paynagen, died 1906 with 3 sons: David, Percy and Olsita;
Brother Sally, died 1915 with 3 children: Cobo, Peter, and Laida;
Brother Singit, died 1958 with 5 children: Ondang, Melecia, Severa, Catherina, Glen, Rufina and Mary;
Brother Juantala, died 1953 with 6 children: Na-ay, Hope, Rodolfo, Demot, Rosaline and Florencio;
Brother Saoyao, died 1918 without children.
Cousins of Reuben at the paternal side:
1. Togmina, died 1942 blessed with 5 children: Donato, Damey, Thomas Olber, Sima Milo and Danio Becasen.
2. Sagaysay, died 19 with only 2 daughters: Ligay and Saipan.
3. Madoway, died 1976 blessed with 2 sons: Bado Dangwa and Joeme.
4. Say-an, died 1962 with 3 children: Kiblot, Payag and Monang;
5. Bay-an, died 1975 with 10 children in 2 wives: Tayec, Gomang, Labney, Icad, and Molitas/
Frank, Celing, Carmen, Agosto and Dorenta.
6. Assao, died with 6 children, Salmin, Sayeg, Galim, Annie, Loding and Tabang;
7. Estigo, died 19 with 6 children: Onang, Onive, Kiliman, Barnie, Filomina and Napoleon.
8. Laoyan, died 1944 with 9 children: Sinag, Malling, Mimay, Tilib, Bensoy, Bita, Minang,
9. Dayogman , died 1958 with 7 children: Talig-an, Mary, Senia, Pio, Salupay, Gomsing and Torres;
10. Damiana, alive with 11 children: Coty, Mina, Saniyet, Tagde, Cobing, Abes, Pasiking, Alway, Padua, Caguiing and Nuela.
11. Orkia, died with 3 children: Tansing, Pagedped and Tonton;
12. Baguinay, died 1967 with 2 child: Mary Saldo and Buslay;
13. Cos-eg, died with only one son, Danso.
Out of the 4 brothers and 1 sister, all of them died, the last brother died in 1958 and the deceased herein was the last to pass among them. Out of the 13 cousins in the list, all of them passed away, except no. 10 in the list is alive.
Present during the last minute of the deceased on Saturday, January 14, 1978 at 3:30 pm are: Ida and Ransom, Catherine and Melecia, Jerry, Arnie and others. They were fixing and clothing the body covered with white blanket and laying on the bed. Ida, Josie and Jerry went to arrange with the New Baguio Funeraria, besides coffin and other services while others went to inform relatives and friends. At the evening the coffin was brought in where the body was transferred and arranged to be placed near the door entrance towards the East. In the evening, friends and relatives arrived one after the other.
Those present in that night were Mr. and Mrs Ruliva, Mr. and Mrs. Zarate, Ida family, Ransom and Catherine family. All the Ruliva’s and Mrs. Zarate left late that night. It was suggested that night to send somebody to Kapangan to call the children and inform relatives. Mr. Jose Ringor with his jeep and Jerry volunteered to go that night. They went and arrived about past 12:00 midnight with Daisy and Picar. We spent the whole night watching until morning.
Sunday morning, January 15th, left the place and went to La Trinidad via camp and return for the Sunday Church services till 2:00 pm and went to Pinsao with Thomas Olber, Many relatives and friends were already there. Milo, Molitas, Severa, Sima, Bensay, Alfonso just arrived.
In the evening, many arrived. Mrs. Lumbag, Paul Bastawang, Mrs Kawi, Mr and Mrs Padilla Malado, Charing, Consing, Mercie, Pagayunan Family and many others. The people took their supper with meat. Many left after supper and some stayed for the night. Sleep late that night till 1:00 am. Those watching that night were Milo, Molitas, Ransom, Abes, Tion, Oway, Pagayunan family and others till morning.
Monday, Jan. 16th, left for La Trinidad via camp to follow up the 2 buses ordered for the funeral service. I returned from La Trinidad with buses nos. 510 and 569. The buses had to wait until 10:40 am after the service in Christian Science is over. About 8 cars with the 2 buses joined the funeral procession. Abraham and Louang just arrived to attend the funeral. Among those present are: All members of the family, all the 7 children, Salmin family, children of Singit,children of Saly. Hope Juantala, Atty. Samuel Dangwa, Miguela and Precilla, Bacuag Depayso, Mr/Mrs. Padilla Malado, Mr. Ruliva and many friends. Final prayer was conducted at the cemetery. After the burial, the parties were invited to return in the house to take dinner since it was already past 12:00 noon.
Many relatives in that place that night until the fourth evening prayer when final services was conducted where super was served to friends and relatives.
Those present on Thursday, January 19, 1978 evening were; all members of the family and relatives such as Mayor and Mrs. Icad Bayan and ladies, Fiscal & Mrs Danio Becasen, Mr.& Mrs Padilla Malado, Engr. & Mrs. Bonifacio Marines, Menita Cobiag, Juliana and Lourdes, Mrs. Emily Fianza and Daniel, Hope JuantalaGagui-ing Atiwen, Balnes Kiwas and Daniel Basigan. Only Alfonso and Abraham Combaas were not present in the affair.
During the wake, two Christian Science services were conducted. One was conducted by Mrs. Emily Fianza on January 16, 1978 at 10:30 am at Pinsao and on January 19 at 5:40 pm at Pinsao, Guisad, Baguio City.
LOURDES OPEY POLIG
The late LOURDES OPEY POLIG also died June 10, 1978 on the same year the husband died. Buried on the 3rd day of June 12 on the evening in a cave above the road. A religious service of the Jehovas Witness was held by members at 4:00 pm. Many relatives, friends and children from Baguio attended the evening burial except those who are in Mindanao, Ransom and Picar.
